November 21, 1924 – January 27, 2024
at the age of 99 years:
Margery (Marge) Frances (Smith) Wilson nee Barrone passed away peacefully at her home on January 27, 2024 in her 100th year. She was born November 21, 1924 to Floyd and Wilma Barrone near Davidson, Saskatchewan.
Beloved wife of the late Orval Wilson for fifty years, she survived three sisters and two brothers. She is lovingly remembered by eight children and one stepdaughter: Shirley (Ken), Patricia (Art), Carol (Terry), Barbara (Dave), Belynda (Errol), Daniel (Holly), Harold (Lucille), Marion (Paul), Joselyn (Laurie), also all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Margery’s family moved from Davidson to Hanley to a homestead at Winter Lake, in Northern Saskatchewan in 1934. In 1941 she married Horace Mac Smith, had three daughters, and was widowed in 1950. She married Orval Wilson in 1958 and they farmed at Ladder Valley, (Big River) Saskatchewan, where she had five more children. In 1985 they moved to Shellbrook, Saskatchewan where they lived until 1988, they then moved to Kelowna, BC and then in 1989 moved to Enderby, BC. After Orval’s death in 2008 she relocated to Salmon Arm in 2010.
Margery had almost one hundred years of stories about homesteading, the depression, World War II, farming, and raising children. In her later years she spent her time reading, knitting, quilting, and walking.
It is not sorrow that lasts forever. It is love.
Marge I will miss you a lot and all the phone calls. Your knowledge will always be remembered. Condolences to your whole family, they were amazing. Rest in Peace. Your loving sister in law. Georgina
