September 9, 1915 – October 27, 2013
at the age of 98 years
Celebration of Life: Saturday, November 30, 2013, 2:00 p.m., Fischer’s Funeral Services
Norah passed away peacefully in Bastion Place, at the age of 98.
Born in Creston, BC to John and Hannah Miller, Norah was one of seven siblings, all of whom have predeceased her. She married Fred Williams on February 25, 1937 and they had three sons. Despite working hard on their mixed farm, she found time to sew, bowl, curl, square dance, round dance, and support the women’s group in her church. She was passionate about baking and growing roses. After they retired, Norah and Fred wintered in Arizona where they enjoyed playing golf. Later in life, Norah moved to Cranbrook and Salmon Arm and enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She continued growing beautiful flowers for her entire life.
Norah was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred, in 1987. Devoted to family, Norah will be sadly missed by sons David, Earl, and Roger; daughters- in- law Greta and Janis; five grandsons and their wives and thirteen great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Levins and the staff of Bastion Place for their excellent care, patience and compassion. A service will be held at Fischer’s Funeral Chapel on Nov 30th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Norah’s honour to the Canadian National Institute For The Blind or charity of your choice.
To Norah’s family, I am sorry to read of your mother’s death. She was one person I can remember from a very early age, as our mothers were friends and neighbours on the flats.
Dempsey always spoke of Norah with great affection and I am sad to say that in recent years we lost touch with her. She was the last of her generation in the family as my mother was of hers and I know she will be missed. Please accept my sincere condolences.
Dempsey passed away in 2012, so another link to the past is gone as well.
