My first memory of Lawrence was he and his pals getting on the school bus in OKCentre. He was kind of the “Fonzy” of OKCentre and being 6 years younger, I was very impressed. We literally did not meet again until the 90s when I was helping to organize Band 7 days and he was the quiet practical and super helpful custodian at Jackson. He was a great guy, probably abit stubborn but a charmer. Sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to you Sylvia.

I will miss Lawrence Whitehead. Lawrence was the first custodian I met of School District No. 83 – North Okanagan-Shuswap when I arrived in Salmon Arm to teach at the former JL Jackson Junior Secondary in 1994. Lawrence worked late at night and always ensured that I was kept in company and also walked safely to my car. My condolences to Lawrence’s family, friends and colleagues.
