Schultz, Ivy Mary (nee Lufta)

December 27, 1929 – February 10, 2024
at the age of 94 years:

Mass of Christian burial held on February 17th at 1:00 p.m., Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Chase, BC.

Born December 27, 1929 on Parmachene/Lake Helen Nation near Nipigon, Ontario, Ivy passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024 in the Shuswap Lake Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC, with loving family holding her hands.

Survived by her daughters Marie (Ken) Smith, Betty-Ann (Bill) McDonald, Terry-Mae (Harold) Sinclair, Sharon Kneen, Geraldine (Robert) Taron and Jennifer (Leander) Goertzen, four sisters, one bother-in-law, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond, daughter Beatrice, son-in-law John Kneen, three sisters, two brothers, five sister-in-laws and ten brother-in-laws.

Ivy grew up by beautiful Lake Helen with her parents and seven sisters. While working as a cook’s helper in a logging camp she met Raymond. They married in historic St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church, Red Rock Ontario in 1949. They started their married life on the Schultz family farm in Saskatchewan.  Moving to Clinton, BC and raising seven girls, Ivy worked outside the home at various jobs including the Post Office, butcher shop, and hardware store. She and Raymond also owned and operated a General Store in Paradise Valley, Alberta.  Ivy spent many hours volunteering and enjoyed playing ball, swimming, curling and golfing. She was very good, or just lucky, at winning whether it was cards, bingo, scratch tickets and even the casino.

She will be remembered for her strong Catholic faith, love of family, her quick wit, sense of humour, generous smile and heartfelt hugs. Ivy was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Our hearts are broken but we trust Mom is in her heavenly home surrounded by many loved ones, filled with joy and at peace.

The family is very appreciative of the staff and friends at her retirement home, Piccadilly Terrace, where she spent the last 12 years of her life.

Mass of Christian burial held on February 17th at 1:00 p.m., Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Chase, BC.   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

  1. Hi girls…such a huge loss for all of you with the passing of MOM. She was an amazing woman who raised 7 beautiful girls, every one unique in their own way. GeraldineY, my friend, your mom was such a character! I was never in her presence without getting a few good laughs! Rest assured Mrs. Schultz, I think of you every time I see or smell sourkraut!
You will be so missed… and to each one of you, Marie, Betty-Ann, Terry, Sharon, Geraldine and Jennifer, so sorry I missed your moms service, but every one of you were in my thoughts.
