at the age of 85 years
We sadly announce the passing of Ruth McCreadie on March 22, 2015, Salmon Arm, at the age of 85 years.
Ruth was predeceased by her first husband Doug Scurr and their sons David and Timothy and her second husband Bill McCreadie. She is survived by her two grandchildren Katie Scurr and Tyler Anstey as well as her close friend Anita.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Certainly a ‘pang of guilt’ waves through me as I learn today of Ruth’s demise. I have allowed the busy-ness of increasing time with grandchildren and their parents to thin out the time I have spent with aging friends. My diary note today to “call Ruth 250-804-_ _ ” to go for coffee seems a bit hollow now.
I suspect that Ruth does not know how much I appreciated her kindness, warm smile and laughter. I first got to know her and Bill when they arranged for me to assist with their financial plans (Bill wanted to ensure Ruth was taken care of in the event he ever predeceased her). When Bill died, Ruth needed a lot of coaching and I was privileged to be a primary confident through some tough decisions she had to make.
To the surviving family of Ruth, please know that she touched many people in a very positive way and will be remembered as a very special lady and valued friend. May God bless each of you … as He blessed us with Ruth, her incredible smile, and her quest to stay forever young.

Dear family of Ruth and Anita,
I want to express my deepest condolences over the loss of Ruth. We will always remember with fondness her vivacious lightness and laughter during those fun-filled Cedar Heights days when she and Bill lived three doors down with Jean in between. I like to think that Ruth, Bill, Jean and mom are now reunited and gathering for a meal and great conversation just like the old days.
So sorry for the lose of your Mom. She was always a very sweet lady ! nancy lyons…. Houghton!
