November 17, 1935 – April 10, 2024
at the age of 88 years:
Georges passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Fabiola, daughters Denise, Colette, Suzanne, Nina (Todd), grandchildren Jennifer, Laura, Katie, Erika, Deanna, Darcy, Samantha, Stephanie, Robert and Amanda, great-grandchildren Heidi, Camille, Leo, Watson, Daisy, Eva and Sabrina, brother Andre, sisters Gilberte and Daisy and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Maurice and Camille, his brother Alain, grand-daughter Alexandra and son-in-law Terry.
Georges was born in Arlon, Belgium and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his family as a teenager where he began his career as a painter with his father and brothers.
He met Fab on a double date with his cousin Lisette and Fab’s brother Clement for a Sadie Hawkins dance. They married in September 1956 and eventually settled in St. Norbert to raise their family.
He later fulfilled his dream of living in BC to retire when they moved to Salmon Arm in 2006.
Georges was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 1993 and also a member of the Belgium Club where he and Fab went to many functions which ignited their passion for ballroom dancing.
He also loved Tai Chi, bowling and golf. He enjoyed trying new hobbies such as Japanese cooking, refrigeration repair and small engine repair to name a few. He took after his father as an artist and enjoyed painting with acrylics and trying his hand at airbrushing on canvas.
He left us with many precious memories of snowmobiling, downhill skiing, going for rides on his motorcycle or scooter and many summers spent at Gull Lake boating, waterskiing, tubing, barefoot, disc or kite skiing and fishing.
The family would like to extend our thanks to Vaughn and Pat, Dr’s Keith and Laura Hepburn, and the staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their support, concern and kind care.
No service has been planned at this time.
to Fab and family, my condolences go out to you and the family, i met Georges thru 10 pin bowling league at chateau lanes in winnipeg, and from the Belgium club, he was soft spoken and kind and i was glad to have been on his team for many a year. he will be deeply missed by all of you.
As newlyweds, we moved into our house next door to the Desloges family in St. Norbert in 1970. They were very welcoming to us as neighbours and were an excellent example to us of a loving family. Our family grew and we outgrew our house and moved away, but often think of your family and, in particular, your loving parents. Our condolences to you on the passing of George.
We first met Georges and Fab at a dance group that we joined many years ago. Soon we became good friends and spent many evenings dancing and on vacations to Venezuela and Mexico and many week ends at Gull Lake. When they decided to move to B.C. we were sorry to see good friends leave.
And now we have to say another good bye to Georges. It was a very sad day when we heard of his passing.
Our condolences to Fab and the family.

I am so sorry for the loss of a true gentleman. Sincerest condolences to his family. Fab and him floated across the dance floor at many of my events and frequented the studio. I always enjoyed dancing with George; he was a kind and gentle soul. He and Fab were a wonderful asset to our dances. Sad, when life changes and slips away. Heaven has a precious angel. This one is for you, George and Fab
