May 6, 1957 – August 1, 2024
at the age of 67 years:
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Darrel Collins on August 1, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Lynn of 44 years, siblings Ron Collins, Pat Dillman, Cheryl Wilson and Joy Doherty.
Darrel was born in Prince George and lived in Vernon, Quesnel and Salmon Arm. Much of his life was spent camping for work and play in the great outdoors. He will always be remembered for his love of family, friends and anything outdoors. Darrel loved to see people laugh and could lift the spirits of any room with his fun-loving wit and charm. He will be missed.
Rest in peace Darrel
Well Darrel the world has lost a good man spent many a day with you out in the wilds of B.C and sometime in big cities doing sport shows actually I even bought a truck from you at Toyota. You worked very hard at trying to all your clients happy weather it was hunting or fishing. You showed me alot the ropes to the guiding business also you where a pretty good moose caller and one tough guide. So I hope your up in the sky’s showing someone how to moose and catch a fish or two.My condolences go out too Lynn and the rest of family
.
It is still so hard to believe you are gone, Darrel. My heart aches for Lynn, your family and the many friends who share the grief of losing you. In over thirty years of knowing you, you have always been there for others. Your kindness, sense of humour and care for the people in your life were endless. I knew I was always welcome in your home, you and Lynn were there for me during a difficult time and I cherish the memories of feeling so accepted by you both. Rest in peace and never doubt the impact you had on so many lives, including mine. I like to think that wherever you are now, you are smiling and telling stories.
What a shock to see Darrel’s obiturary in the paper today. I went to elementary school with Darrel in Prince George until his family moved in Grade 8. While I had not seen him since, I have many fond memories of Friday night skating and just hanging with friends. I remember him as a kind, caring, thoughtful person, which is sometimes rare in young teens. It seems he carried those traits forward into his adult life. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
I was a cross-the-street neighbour of Darrel and the Collin’s’ family when we were kids in Vernon. That’s a long time ago and the memories are faded. Darrel was an older teenager when I was young so I didn’t actually hang out with him or anything. But I remember Darrel out on the street playing frisbee with his brother Ron in the early 70’s. They were awesome and I remember trying to copy their example. Especially skipping the disc off the pavement and behind-the-back catches!
Sounds like he carried that same energetic joy throughout his life and infected those around him.
So sorry to run across his name in the obituaries. My sincere condolences to the family.
My dear big brother ….. Darrel… I still can’t really believe you are gone….you were my friend, my mentor, a one of a kind guy, my drop everything he’s doing to come to my aid …. You were and are a constant in my life, you visit me in my dreams just to let me know you are doing great, you came for ONE last game of pool the other night. I look for you in the stars at night and look into the clouds during the day to find you, you were so loving, kind, funny, smart, gentle, strong, giving …. I have had losses in my life but none as great as you because you were the GREATEST!!!! Until we meet again, take peace in knowing how dearly you are loved and missed. ABBA DOO Darrel.
May your spirit be free to roam in your happy place Dear Cuz. We will miss your stories, your incredible sense of humour, and your emulation of the Scandinavian accent stirring such fond memories of our childhood. We will keep Lynn in our hearts as you fly with the Angels. R&V
Missn you Darrel. Loved your open mind and the way you made everyone feel heard. Love the way you loved my sister and the joy you guys shared in your life together. The world is a little emptier without you.
I remember Darrel as a larger than life guy. I first met him in Quesnel at the Toyota dealership and liked him immediately. What a wonderful guy. Energy and such a positive person. Darrel was our guide one year for my boys and some friends on a fishing weekend. What a memory of his passion for the outdoors. We all thought we had fly fishing down Pat until Darrel gave us all a lesson on what a professional looks like. Fireside stories that were beyond funny. Rest in Peace Darrel. Your life impacted many. Cheers
Darrel you will be remembered by every person you met. Your personality and whit were unforgettable. The number of stories that come to mind would fill volumes. I thank you for many years of friendship. Our lives would have been very different without you in it. It will forever be impossible to tell a story of our experiences without a smile and a laugh. We’ll all miss ya Buddy. Until we meet again.
This is for sure a bad news headline to us. Darrel was fun loving guitar player, hunting
guide, fisherman, goldminer, car salesman, farmer, house fixer. Loved his homemade dirt filter made out of a lawnmower. I also remember a trip when he took his fatherinlaw out grizzly hunting and was stuck for a whole day in the mud with my uncle Edwin.Rip Darrel and hugs to Lynn and family from Janet and Roy.
Darrel was a true legend. As a kid, I loved hearing all the wild stories of his adventures, adventures with my dad and their pals. I was grateful to share one of those adventures with him on a hunting trip to the Chilcotin. He taught me and my brother how to call moose, showed us the incredible country where he spent so much of his time, and shared more wild stories and lots of laughs around the campfire.
So many larger than life stories that’ll I’ll never forget!
Every word here is true,i met Darrel the day he moved to Milburn lk he was our neighbour and what a perfect neighbour he was.Darrel and Lynn treated us like family from day 1 and we shared so many good times on the lake.I started working with Darrel and the Toyota family in around 1988 .Darrel and Dan together taught and mentor me into alot of my skills and sucess today.Darrels personality was infectios and kind,he could always find a smooth path to communicate.I cant count the number of good times in the years i had with Darrel hunting, fishimg, working and the partys we had.Pure one of a kind and never to be forgotton.Rest in Peace fella.

Oh man, Darrel you were one of a kind, He broke the mold after you were created. I am thankful for the times we worked together at Toyota, so many stories. My condolences to Lynn and many others who are grieving, my prayers are for peace and comfort for all those who are affected by this loss.
DOODLE LOOP !
My lifelong buddy of over 60 years, Darrel, was the best man at our wedding, the master sales manager at Westpark Toyota, and my hunting mentor. He was such a unique person. He was a lover and a powerhouse of a man, with many talents and a sense of humor like none other.
Darrel was loved by so many. He quickly put others at ease and made them feel welcome. He made friends with any personality or age group, and if he was your friend, you had an outstanding friend! If he thought you were an a-hole, you probably needed to work on yourself a bit!
Darrel loved his family and adored his sweetheart Lynnie with all his heart.
I’ll miss you and love you always, brother.
See you on the other side!
Dan
