Georges passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Fabiola, daughters Denise, Colette, Suzanne, Nina (Todd), grandchildren Jennifer, Laura, Katie, Erika, Deanna, Darcy, Samantha, Stephanie, Robert and Amanda, great-grandchildren Heidi, Camille, Leo, Watson, Daisy, Eva and Sabrina, brother Andre, sisters Gilberte and Daisy and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Maurice and Camille, his brother Alain, grand-daughter Alexandra and son-in-law Terry.
Georges was born in Arlon, Belgium and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his family as a teenager where he began his career as a painter with his father and brothers.
He met Fab on a double date with his cousin Lisette and Fab’s brother Clement for a Sadie Hawkins dance. They married in September 1956 and eventually settled in St. Norbert to raise their family.
He later fulfilled his dream of living in BC to retire when they moved to Salmon Arm in 2006.
Georges was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion since 1993 and also a member of the Belgium Club where he and Fab went to many functions which ignited their passion for ballroom dancing.
He also loved Tai Chi, bowling and golf. He enjoyed trying new hobbies such as Japanese cooking, refrigeration repair and small engine repair to name a few. He took after his father as an artist and enjoyed painting with acrylics and trying his hand at airbrushing on canvas.
He left us with many precious memories of snowmobiling, downhill skiing, going for rides on his motorcycle or scooter and many summers spent at Gull Lake boating, waterskiing, tubing, barefoot, disc or kite skiing and fishing.
The family would like to extend our thanks to Vaughn and Pat, Dr’s Keith and Laura Hepburn, and the staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their support, concern and kind care.
No service has been planned at this time.
