Hansen, Arvid “Arv” Nis

November 9, 1955 – July 4, 2024
at the age of 68 years:

Arvid Nis Hansen “Arv” “Geezer” November 9, 1955 – July 4, 2024 at the age of 68 years old.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arvid Nis Hansen.  Arvid died peacefully in the early hours of July 4th, at his home in Enderby, with his loving wife by his side.

Survived by his wife of 48 years Maureen Hansen, son Harley (Tanya) daughter Tanya Kraft, grandchildren, Jade, Makayla, Kylie, Kiera, Brayden, Brother Ed Hansen (JoAnne) sisters Rose Forsyth, Diana Jesse (Ron) and families.

Arv was born in Mission and moved to Enderby in 1973 where he met his wife Maureen (Ganske).  He spent his early working years in the dairy farming industry before obtaining his class 1 licence and pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a truck driver.  Arv worked for various different trucking companies over the years and owned his own truck for a period of time.  He transported products across Canada and over the border to the US. He gave up long hauling to be home with his family and drove dump truck for Okanagan Aggregates Ltd. in Armstrong until 2001. Arv finished up his career working for Castle Fuels in Salmon Arm for 15 ½ years before medical issues forced him into early retirement in 2017.

Arv will be remembered for his great sense of humour, his ability to make everyone around him laugh, and for his own unique and contagious laugh.

Geezer had a tough guy exterior but was actually a big softie. He loved his family dearly and each of his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Geezer will be greatly missed!

Special thanks to Gwen Gatzke, the BC Ambulance staff, and Fischer’s Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Clement, Gary Warren

Clement, Gary Warren

June 2, 1947 – July 3, 2024
at the age of 77 years:

It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Clement announces his passing at Mount Ida Mews, Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 77.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Margaret, married 54 years, son Quentin(Melanie) Florida, son Kelly(Kim) Fort St. John, granddaughters Teagan(Kamloops), Emma(Florida), Rilyn(Fort St. John), and Addison(Fort St. John) as well as siblings Wayne(Diane) Kelowna, Karen(Fred) Vernon, and Glenda(Leduc).  Gary was predeceased by his parents Leslie(1998), Iris(1981) and brother Hugh(2022).

Gary was born in Kelowna June 2, 1947. After finishing high school, he joined the RCMP in 1967 and met Margaret who became his wife in 1970. Gary spent 14 years in the force and was transferred to several communities over those years. In 1981 Gary made a career change and became the owner operator of McDonald’s in Fort St. John, BC. He also built a 10-bay car wash next to McDonald’s which was called MicSuds. In 2000 Gary and his wife sold McDonald’s and MicSuds and retired to their property on Shuswap Lake and presided there until Gary had a stroke in 2019. Due to the type of stroke, he became a resident at Mount Ida Mews in Salmon Arm until his passing. He was well cared for and all the staff loved him. He had his loving wife beside him everyday.

Gary was a man of principle and integrity, a true role model who had a way of making an impact on those who his soul had touched. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom and unwavering love. We will miss that loving smile, his graciousness, humour, willingness to help others and his love of family and friends. He was truly one of a kind.

As we bid farewell to Gary may we celebrate the life he lived, the memories he gifted us, and the love that will continue to live on in our hearts. Rest in peace. We will miss you forever.

A celebration of life will be released at a later date, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shuswap Hospital Foundation
