Marie passed away suddenly in Salmon Arm, BC, April 10, 2016.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, John, of 43 years, and her daughters; Connie, Amanda (Justin) and Jamie; and grandchildren, Helena, Jon, Carter and Logan.
Marie was born on July 12, 1952 in Vancouver, the 6th child of Michael and Theo Miller; beloved sister to Sharon, Michael, John, Gwen, Greg, Richard, Mark and Leonard.
Marie grew up in Richmond; and was an active member of the Navy League Wrenettes; loved to sew amazing fashions and worked for BC Tel.
In 1973, Marie married John Hoare at St. Paul’s Church. They moved to Delta in 1977 where her interests included camping, fishing and scuba diving.
In 1986 Marie and John adopted three little sisters, Connie, Amanda and Jamie, ages 5, 4 and 18 mos. Marie’s life was transformed; and was a loving, devoted mother to her little angels, continuing as a Brownie and Girl Guide Leader, as the girls grew up.
In 2000, Marie started a Companion Service called ‘Second Daughter’ and helped many people, as well as her parents, Mike and Theo, in their later years.
Marie exemplified selfless devotion. Always a smile. Always generous. Always willing to help others.

Marie was such a joy to me. She would sing at the drop of a hat, was not shy, and loved talking and expressing herself. I recall her singing “Itsy bitsy spider, walked up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain; Itsy bitsy spider walked up the water spout.” Marie used her fingers to mimic a spider walking upwards; fingers trembling downward to mimic the rain falling; arms wide open to mimic the sun, then back to the walking spider. And of course a BIG SMILE on her face the whole time. Babies, children and adults and seniors all loved to see and hear Marie sing, “Itsy Bitsy Spider.”
Children were fascinated and could easily follow along.

When I visualize her singing and smiling, I feel she is right here in front of me. Thank you, Marie!
My deepest sympathy to John, the children and all her brothers and sisters. Marie and I shared our love of playing in the Margaret Bicknell Corp band together, and also working together at BCTel. Marie was always giving and kind and a wonderful fun person to grow up with. Prayers of love and support for you all.

Marie was so comfortable and always excited to entertain children with fun things to do.
Her smile, enthusiasm, and dedication to her family were always her number one priority.
The fun times we all had together camping, fishing, hiking and card games will surely be missed by our family.
May God grant you comfort in knowing that she is now in a safe place with her Mother and Father.

Very sorry to hear of Marie’s passing.I remember a lot of good times we had growing up together. My condolences to all.
I am so surprised and saddened to hear of cousin Marie’s recent passing…still so young an age, but then it’s always hard no matter the timing. My heartfelt condolences to John and their lovely daughters, as well as my cousins. I know Gwen had expressed some concern over Marie’s failing health the last couple of times we were together, but I didn’t realize how serious the situation was. What I knew of Marie, she was very loveable, very capable and a great Mom. She’ll be missed by all.
I am so sorry to hear of Marie’ sudden death. I have many memories of summers spent with our Miller cousins. Avie and me with Gwen and Marie, heading off to Brighouse to watch a movie, or off to a corner store getting our Popsicles. Marie was a sweetheart and is gone much too soon.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news of Marie. I will always remember her as the just the sweetest older cousin as were teenagers growing up in Richmond. You have my deepest condolences.
