Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, 12 noon, downstairs at the Sicamous Legion Branch 99, 322 Main St, Sicamous, BC

Sharon was born in Avonlea, SK and passed away at the age of 77 in Sicamous, BC.

She was predeceased by sister Patricia Pigeon, her parents Bridgette and Omer Pigeon, her beloved husband Gerald New and sister-in-law Maryln Kalke/Laitinen.

She leaves behind her grieving family members sons:  Ken(Chas) of Saskatchewan, Daryl(Stacey) and Reuben(Heather) both of Sicamous, BC, grandchildren:  Ashley(Arnold), Jake, Jerod(Isabel), Jessie, Scott(Amie), Orey(Candice),  Sydney(Bradon), Kaytlynn, Justin, Brooke, Cody(Charity), Haley(Daniel) and Hunter, 7 great grandchildren, brothers Gary(Shirley) and Henry, sisters-in-law Sandra Gates and Lorna(Marvin) Schley, nieces, nephews, friends and her loyal pug Winston.

Sharon was a married working mother who worked as a dietary technician at Penticton Regional Hospital for many years.  She was a logger’s wife and mother to three boys.  As difficult as life would get sometimes, she always handled things and wasn’t one to ever complain.  Sharon and her husband Gerald moved around the province and into Alberta to keep their logging trucks working.

Eventually settling in Malakwa, BC and then to Sicamous, BC, both Gerald and Sharon became involved in the Legion Branch #99 where Sharon had become Branch President for many years and was also the head bartender.  When she was not working at the Legion, she enjoyed spending time in the garden, camping, fishing and she loved spending time with family and her animals.  Sharon always put everyone else’s health, happiness and overall well being ahead of her own.

The family would like to thank the ambulance staff, police officer CST. Adam Poitras and the staff at Fischer’s Funeral for their service, care, support and professionalism during our time of bereavement.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, as per her wishes.

  3. Well mom, ya joined your sister, dad, your mom, your dad and a long list of relatives who passed on before you. Rest in peace, one day we will see each other again and everyone else too. Love Daryl.

  4. Mom, you were loved by so many and will be missed. You taught me so much and I wasn’t finished learning. You were taken so suddenly that I thought we would have more time. We were the 3 amigos ( Reuben, you and i). Everyday I still look over waiting for your wave in the morning when I’d take our dog out. I’ll miss our morning texts comparing our morning aches and pains. Everyday there’s something missing and that’s you. You will be missed more then you know.

  5. I wish to express my deepest sympathy. The Bible promises that your loved one will come to life again on a beautiful earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29 and Revelation 21:4.
